MEET SUNNY

I was born in D.C. and raised in Hyattsville and Riverdale Heights (unincorporated P.G. County). I grew up on the Metro system - from buses to the then-newly built Green Line, my family relied upon well planned and built public infrastructure. I moved to California for college and returned again for law school.

Until 2021, Congresswoman Lee “spoke for me”. During that time, I gained 10 years of experience working alongside visionary entrepreneurs across alcohol, tech, health + wellness, and cannabis industries. I was exposed to students seeking to master sustainable practices and spent time in thrift and vintage stores jewel hunting in bins and on racks.

When relocating to Southern California, my goal was to choose to live in a majority Black neighborhood much like the one I grew up in as a child. I was thrilled to find a new home in Inglewood among hundreds of trees planted before I was born with Congresswoman Waters as my congressional representative.

Sunnies Oasis is a venture born of my need to share what’s most precious to me: the feeling of complete immersion when viewing a piece of art or visiting a collection, crafting by hand, or sitting in nature. With the motto of Death is Certain, Time is Not, this is an exploration of what is happening now for me in various times and places. I hope you’ll join me and dream up an oasis of your own.
