Bb Does Basel - Miami Art Week 2023 Treasure Hunting in the Premier Place for Contemporary Art Collecting
Taking my own advice - and attending my first post-pandemic art fair, diving deeper into contemporary art collecting.
Get Ready to Dive into the Seven Tasks During My Exciting Adventure at Art Basel and Miami Art Week - The Ultimate Event for Contemporary Art Collecting!
1 - Find a print work or sculpture that you like. (1 pt)
Too many to count. Check out my insta post here for more.
2- Find an internationally based gallery you liked the work of and get their card. [Then let's go visit it.] (2 pts)
The list is long. Belgium soon?
3 - Visit the emerging galleries space at the far side of the show. Highest likelihood of being able to engage with a living artist. (1 pt; 1/2 pt bonus for meeting the artists)
Well, done and done.
4 - Check out NADA. Those are the emerging art dealers who will eventually make it to the Basel floor. (1 pt)
0 points because I got there after hours unintentionally. But shoutout to the folx that let me in a tent to get to see some of the show!
5 - Go to an artist talk. They're fun. (1 pt)
Traffic didn't want me to be great, but I persevered. Made it to Maria Campos Pons' talk with Franklin Sirmans, Director, Pérez Art Museum Miami, Miami and moderated by Crystal Williams, President, Rhode Island School of Design.
6 - If you see an artist you like selling their catalog, buy it and have them sign it for you.
Joined the no longer strangers from activity below at a gallery booth for a talk and photo session with bonus of 2 catalogs.
7- Meet a stranger and talk with them about their experiences. (1 pt)
Met 2. All awestruck. First timers from opposite sides of the country.
“Where are you going even if at times [on] the road it seems you are alone?” - María Magdalena Campos-Pons
